Is smoking illegal drugs a sin?

i know Muslims and christens that smoked hookah or tobacco that are religious. so is smoking maryjuana (spelled it wrong so the question wouldn't get deleted) a sin because it is almost the same stuff as tobacco and God made it, just like he made alcohol.both alcohol and maryjuana have side effects so i don't think it is a sin, right? also if in your holy book it states you are entitled to smoke maryjuana can you get arrested? thanks
