Best hotspot plan for pc?

im looking for a good mobile wifi for my laptop. ive tried clear's 4g and i cannot get crap for coverage. are there any other better services that i can get internet access through on the go that arent too expensive for the data but has good coverage? i mainly need it for when i go to cali next month.
