Help from liberals please? Obama and Congress have me confused.?

The new bill sounds like a great idea. Everyone gets health care. No more status quo. But why in world would the president and congress exempt themselves from the new system. It's a great system and it doesn't make any sense why they don't want to be a part of it. Instead, they are going to settle for the "status quo". It makes me wonder. Does anyone have a logical explanation?
